About the role

We are seeking a visionary and highly experienced Principal Product Manager / Senior Business Consultant to provide strategic leadership across our core health-tech product portfolios. This individual will act as a senior leader responsible for shaping the overarching strategy, driving execution, and ensuring alignment across multiple high-impact healthcare domains (such as core administrative processing, clinical data exchange, and member-centric platforms). As a Principal, you will not own a single product feature but will be responsible for orchestrating value creation across the broader ecosystem. You will connect the dots between disparate enterprise initiatives, drive cohesive data and platform strategies, and mentor product managers to deliver solutions that meet the strategic goals of enGen and our health plan partners.

Enterprise Product Strategy & Vision (40%)
Portfolio-Level Roadmap: Define and champion a unified strategic vision that connects roadmaps across various health-tech domains, ensuring they collectively contribute to enterprise goals like operational efficiency, improved health outcomes, and seamless provider/member experiences.
Strategic Decision-Making: Act as the ultimate decision-maker on value sequencing and prioritization for large, cross-domain initiatives. Make informed, data-driven trade-offs that balance short-term client needs with long-term platform scalability.
Innovation & Market Research: Serve as the organization's thought leader on emerging trends in healthcare technology (including automation, advanced analytics, and interoperability). Champion innovative solutions and build compelling, quantitative business cases for new strategic investments. 2. Cross-Functional Orchestration & Governance (35%)
Ecosystem Collaboration: Act as the primary orchestrator between siloed product pillars, engineering leaders, data architecture teams, and business stakeholders. Identify opportunities for reusable solutions (e.g., shared data connectors, enterprise APIs, common business rules) to eliminate redundancy and accelerate delivery.
Stakeholder Influence: Influence stakeholders at all levels, from health plan executives to engineering leads, without direct authority. Articulate complex technical and healthcare business concepts to build consensus and drive alignment across a matrixed organization.
Compliance & Data Governance: Champion enterprise-wide governance standards for data exchange, security, and ethical automation, ensuring all solutions are compliant with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, CMS mandates) and securely manage PHI/PII. 3. Mentorship & Team Enablement (25%)
Product Leadership Mentorship: Provide direct guidance, coaching, and mentorship to Product Managers, Owners, and Business Analysts. Elevate the team's ability to think strategically, prioritize for value, and execute agile methodologies effectively.
Best Practices Evangelism: Define and institutionalize product management best practices, particularly in the areas of data-driven decision-making, value-based prioritization, and outcome-oriented roadmapping.
Talent Development: Partner with leadership to identify skill gaps and develop talent within the product management organization, fostering a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.

What you'll bring

Extensive Experience: 12+ years of progressive experience in product management, business consulting, or a related strategic role, with a significant portion dedicated to the US healthcare payer or health-tech space.
Healthcare Domain Expertise: Deep subject matter expertise in broad healthcare domains such as health plan operations, claims processing ecosystems, clinical data integration, or provider network management.
Strategic Acumen: Proven ability to translate high-level business objectives from health plan partners into a cohesive, multi-product strategy and an actionable roadmap.
Technical & Data Literacy: Strong working understanding of modern enterprise architecture, cloud-based data platforms, and emerging automation/AI capabilities. Must be able to lead technical discussions and evaluate technology stack trade-offs.
Data Analysis Mastery: Expert-level ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making, guide analysts, interpret complex operational datasets, and build ROI-focused business cases.
Exceptional Influence: Demonstrated history of leading large digital transformation initiatives and influencing senior leadership in a complex, multi-tenant environment.

Nice to have

Experience leading legacy system modernization initiatives (e.g., migrating off mainframe/legacy platforms to modern cloud architectures).
Familiarity with national healthcare data standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7, X12).
Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), or a related technical field.
